Argentina initially was a Spanish colony for about 300 years when the Europeans came to this country in the early 1500s. But the Spanish rule was overthrown and Argentina became independent in the year 1816. The rule in the country was marred by formation of fragmented fractions amongst the country which prevented the formation of a strong government. But soon the constitution was formed and along which came the rule of Juan Peron who dominated the country’s political scene for the longest time in its history. His rule bought the much needed respite, calm, law and order in the country. After his death the reins of the county were passed on to his wife Eva Peron.

Argentina has something to offer everybody, be it the slick sophisticated luxury seeker or the nature lover searching for some solace and natural beauty. The city of Buenos Aires, referred to as the “Paris of the south”   is the perfect amalgamation of the imperial past and the sophisticated present. With its historical background dating centuries ago, the city has magnificent remnants of those times in the form of the Cathedral Metropolitana, the Ambrosetti Museum , the Museum of Colonial history to name a few.Tourists looking out for cultural enlightnment would enjoy the Teatro Colon,which prides itself for being the largest opera house in the world and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes which houses works of famous Argentinean artists like Renoir,Rodin,Van Gough etc . The sensual Tango too finds its existence here in the old artist’s quarters of La Boca.

Wildlife freaks too have amazing options in Argentina to satisfy their hunger for adventure. Patagonia-which lies in southern Argentina has numerous natural reserves and wildlife parks home to sea lions, whales, penguins, seals etc. The region of Rio Negro is blessed with the best which nature has to offer. Surrounded by lakes, glaciers and forests this region is heaven for solace seekers.

There is no comparision to the Esterosdel  Ibera wetlands when it comes to magnificent wildlife it has to offer. Flanked by glaciers and snow capped mountains, The Los Glaciares National Park finds its listing in the UNESCO world heritage site list. The rich ornate and beautiful colonial past of the country can also be witnessed in the city of Santa Fe in the form of the famous Templo de Santo Domingo and the Jesuit Iglesia de la Compania. In the southernmost part of this country is present the city of Ushuaia-worlds southernmost city.
