Situated off the east coast of United states in the north Atlantic ocean is present the 138 island cluster of Bermuda. Think Bermuda and think of the soothing tropical weather, pink sand, pristine and majestic beaches stretching to endless miles, an incredible bundle of history and a paradise for outdoor activities.
The island country of Bermuda took its name from its Spanish discoverer Juan De Bermudez and remained a navigational landmark for the mariners out in the ocean until a British ship fell prey to its gnawed coastline and got wrecked. The crew of the ship retuned and ultimately claimed Bermuda into a British colony. The country of Bermuda was used by the British during the American war of independence as a strategic naval base. Bermuda was also used by the Allied countries during the Second World War as an important military base. In the year 1968 the constitution was formed which introduced the policy of self governance. Though much may not be discussed about this tiny county it is witness to almost all the important landmarks of world history ranging from the American Revolution, The first and the Second World War and the war of 1812.

The city of Hamilton is its capital and is the nerve centre of the county’s economy. With beautiful huge Victorian houses lining the harbor the Front street is by no doubt the main attraction of this city. The Hamilton fort, constructed in the mid 19th century to protect the town and the harbor is a standing testimony to the tensions between the British and Americans back then. Hamilton is also home to the National museum, the historical society museum and the Bermuda cathedral .
The Royal Navy dockyard is by far the most visited place in this country. This limestone structure on the Ireland Island houses the largest floating dry dock of the world.
With the rare distinction of having the most churches present every square mile than anywhere else in the world Bermuda boasts the presence of several spectacular and majestic churches. St peter’s church, St Teresa’s church, and St James church are few of those present.
You can be in any part of this country but you will be never far from the beaches. The amazing coastline of Bermuda has amazing opportunities for any water lover. Apart from the usual tourist destinations the country of Bermuda has a mysterious part to it too in the form of the Bermuda triangle.
