Airport Information
The Dubai International airport has 3 terminals to its name. The third terminal which is the latest of them all became operational since October 2008. The Dubai international airport is very easily accessible from the centre of the Dubai city as the Airport road runs straight from the Dubai city centre south east towards the eastern side of The Creek. Work on a metro rail link connecting the airport with the city is underway and this vital link is expected to be functional from 2010. The transfer between the terminals is eased by means of shuttle busses plying on this route. The departure concourse of Terminal 1 is very conveniently connected to the terminal 1 by means of a tunnel equipped with travelators. The terminal 2 is primarily used for exclusive services and is generally put to use for chartered flights, and some other flights operating within the Gulf region. Also initialized at the airport is the work on a cargo mega terminal and it is expected to take its full shape and be completed by 2018. The Dubai international airport primarily has 2 parking lots Parking Lot A and Parking Lot B. these parking lots are meant to take care of Short term as well as long term parking respectively. Regular bus services run from both the terminals connecting the airport with the city. Air conditioned Dubai International airport busses too operate between the airport and Dubai city. It also covers almost 80 hotels in its route. Apart from busses pre paid taxis too can be availed. Booking of such taxis is open 24 hours a day at the arrival hall of terminal 1 at the airport. Apart from these pre paid taxis several car renting agencies and companies too are available at the Dubai International airport. Their information desks too are situated at the arrival hall of terminal 1.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce run an information help desk at the airport and this kiosk is very conveniently located at the arrival hall of terminal 1. Through this service the visiting tourist can get access to maps, brochures, flight related information and even assistance to book room at a hotel suting their needs and requirements.
Facilities at the airport
With ample banking services and ATM access in all the terminals there are sufficient means to take care of your monetary needs. Gate number 8,18 and 22 of the departure hall have currency exchange counters situated near them. Also located near gate number 18 is a 24 hour operating post office. Dubai international airport is renowned for its duty free shopping avenues. The departure halls are the place where these duty free shops and kiosks are majorly concentrated. Apart from shopping there are about 25 eating places, café’s and restaurants located within the airport premises which are capable of taking care of your hunger pangs. Lavish food courts dedicated to international fast food cuisines and an Irish Village are some of places most frequently by the hungry souls. Some of the other facilities being doled out by the Dubai International airport include a 24 hour fully equipped medical assistance center, prayer room, women lounge area, children’s play room and a health club by the name of G- Force health club which has a gymnasium, a swimming pool and other club activities. The Connect Business centre located within the Dubai International hotel is dedicated to serve the needs of the business fraternity on the move.
