Islam found its entry into India with the coming of Afghan rulers like Mohammad Gauri and Mohammad Ghazni. The most significant of all dynasties which emerged in India at this point of time was the Mughals. Founded by Babur this dynasty ruled India for several years under the leadership of several rulers like Akbar, Aurangzeb, Shah Jahan and Jehangir. The Mughal empire slowly weaned away and Bahadur Shah was its last ruler. Following these rulers the next in tow to claim a stake on India was Britain. The first British East India Company set foot in India in 1602 and had come with trading interest. But soon enough the trade interest converted into power hunger and they took over India’s political control. After years of struggle India gained independence in the year 1947. But till then the East India Company’s divide and rule policy had done enough damage and it resulted in the partition of Pakistan from India. Since then India has been continuously striving towards peace, harmony and prosperity.
