Indonesia is a fusion of modernization with traditions and cultures. These two blend together supreme ease and its imprints are left throughout the country to see and marvel. High rise buildings stand together with old colonial homes and ancient temples reflecting this blend. Nothing seems out of place here. It seems as if old world charm gave way for modernization but at the same time did not allow its existence to be put off or doused. Various parts of Indonesia are drenched in natural beauty which is beyond words. Beauty of this level does not need to be accentuated by any other thing to make it attract visitors. Since Indonesia is an archipelago of about 17000 islands which are arranged in the waters like precious gems, the country has attracted lots of foreigners who have made this country their home.
With no dearth of natural bounty and resources the country remained an attractive prospect for travelers of various descendents. The Indonesian soil has seen the Dutch, the British, the Portuguese as well as the Hindu and Muslim kings setting foot here and making this beautiful country of Indonesia a part of their kingdom. These rulers might have moved out of Indonesia with time but they did leave behind their imprints on this land in the form of their culture and heritage. In due course Indonesia is now a thriving multi cultural country which is proud of its cultural legacy and heritage. But with time small cracks can been seen as they appear within various communities which were till now living in peace for staking claim on various parts of the island country.
As discussed that Indonesia represents a culmination of various religions and cultures therefore present in the country are various remnants of the same. Situated in the city of Bali is the Hindu temple of Besakih. This temple which has three separate shrines dedicated to the trinity of Gods being worshipped by Hindus is the largest temple in the entire Bali. Also situated within this temple complex are 18 other smaller temples dedicated to other Gods who are worshipped by people and devotees of other caste and communities. This particular temple is located on the top of a mountain and besides being an important place of worship also attracts tourists to view the incredible sights that it has to offer from its height. The beautiful rolling plains situated bellow provide a truly breath taking view. The travelers who are visiting Indonesia to get a glimpse of its natural bounty should firstly head towards the Bogor Botanical gardens. These gardens designed way back in 1817 is spread over an area of more than 80 hectares and provides shelter to more than 15 thousand species of foliage. The plants which manage to drag maximum viewers are the orchids which Indonesia are famous for as well as the Rafflesia flower which is the largest flower in the world and it blooms only once in a year. The Eka Karya gardens as well as the orchid gardens of Jakarta are also worth a visit. Incredible wild life can be chanced upon at the Ujung Kulon Wildlife Reserve which is unarguably the best wildlife reserve in Indonesia. Home to the one horned Java rhinoceros this national park also manages to attract tourists in droves. The area of Ujung Kulon also manages to bring in tourists on a holiday in Indonesia because of its beautiful beaches and seas. the feel of the powdery sand beneath ones feet and the occasional lapping of water onto ones feet under the warm balmy sun is enough to transport anyone away from worries and tensions.
Indonesia is all about natural beauty and wonders. Beaches, temples, flora and fauna.. take your pick and Indonesia has the best of it for you to enjoy!
