Israel is an incredible land offering an array of topological contrasts ranging from mountains, valleys, plains and deserts. Every inch of this country breathes the turbulent past that Israel has witnessed. It is the land where Prophet Mohammed is believed to have rested during the course of his Night journey before he finally ascended to heaven and also is the place where Jesus was born, bought up and where he spread his teaching and finally died. The Jews also consider Israel as the ‘Promised land’ since Biblical times. This rich religious confluence gives Israel a very important stature and position in the world. Underpinned by this religious and ethnic richness Israel is full of heartwarming and passionate people, marvelous cities with happening activities and night lives along with bustling market places.
The strategic positioning of Israel between Africa, Asia and with Europe being nearby has many times converted the soil of Israel into a battlefield by various races and dynasties. The prominent ones amongst them being the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Greeks and finally the Romans. The Jews who revolted against the Romans were banished from the country and sent on exile. They finally returned years later and succeeded in creating the independent Jewish state of Israel. The religious diversities found here have made this country very sensitive to political developments and has many instincts depicting the same to its credit.
Every sight, monument and place in Israel speaks an untold saga or a tale stemmed from its rich history. Israel promises every tourist a stay which is unique from any other journey taken by the traveler. There is no escape from this geographically diverse land packed with biblical remains of a rich cultural background. Amongst the most important and popular archeological sites located in this region is the town of Caesarea. This town is the site of the excavation process of an entire city dated way back to the 1st century BC. The town of Bethlehem holds supreme importance to the entire Christian community as it is the birthplace of Jesus. The Church of Nativity situated in the Manger Square of the town is thronged by millions of tourists every year.
It was in the town of Nazareth that Jesus is said to have spent his childhood before finally raising Lazarus from the dead in Bethany. The town of Jerusalem holds equal importance to the Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. Situated near to Jerusalem is the world’s oldest city, Jericho. Tel Aviv, Jaffa and Haifa are modern, lively and cosmopolitan towns of Israel with ample tourism options in the form of museums, eating joints, nightclubs found easily here. The town of Haifa is the gateway to that part of Israel which has amazing mountains, lush green forest trails and sandy sea shores. The city is nestled amongst the gorgeous views of the medieval fortress of Acre, the snow covered Mount Hermon and the gorgeous Carmel mountains. The town of Acre has been designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Also worth a visit is the beautiful winter beach resort of Eilat located on the banks of the Red Sea.
The destination for three important religions, Israel truly is a land of natural beauty. One would have to believe the legend which goes on to say that when God created the world he also created 10 parts of beauty
One part he gave to the rest of the world while nine parts he gave to Israel.
