The country of Kazakhstan conjures up an image of vast expanses of countryside surrounded by mountains which provide shelter to Nomads and tribesmen. This wide expanse of this country can be traced between the Chinese border and the Ural Mountains. Kazakhstan has a unique wide array of natural landscape beauty within its folds. the stunning mountain backdrop especially the ones providing a natural boundary from Kyrgyzstan gives way to green fields, glaciers and lakes. To complete the list of landscape wonders in Kazakhstan’s name one has to include a desert too. The desert is home to the Singing Barkhan which is a sand dune which while disintegration produces a peculiar tune, hence the name. This vast and amazing area of immense beauty is waiting to be explored by the keen traveler.

Till history can recollect Kazakhstan was under the rule of the Nomads since long. It was only till the 13th century that the Mongols took control over Kazakhstan and made it a part of their empire. They continued to prove their dominance on the area until the Russians decided to add Kazakhstan to their kitty. They took control over the country in the late 1800 and it stayed with them until the disintegration of Russia.

The city of Almaty owing to its modern outlook, architecture and beautiful views tops high on the places to visit list of any tourist on a trip to Kazakhstan. The sights present in the city include the city hall, the Obelisk of Independence, the New Square and several cathedrals including the Zenkov cathedral and the St Nicholas cathedral. The other important attraction is in the form of the Panfilov park which is house to the world’s tallest wooden building which is an architectural marvel in itself as it has been built without the use of a single nail. There are also located several museums within the boundary of the city and notable amongst them are the central State museum, the State Art Museum and the Museum of Kazakh National Instruments. Also very popular with the guests are the Arasan baths which are public baths. This is the traditional way that the Soviets used to take a bath and includes a mixture of Finnish and Turkish Sauna. If natural beauty is what you are looking for then do not think twice and head straight towards the southern reaches of Kazakhstan where different landscapes seem to be existing together in amazing harmony. Snow capped mountains towering over glaciers and frozen lakes which in turn overlook green steppes and a desert. All these landscapes situated withing one region of a country surely is a spectacle to marvel at. Also situated in Kazakhstan are several Mousoleums which include the likes of Kodja Ahmed Yasavi Mousolem, Karakhan and Daudbek Mousoleums, Babadzi Khatun Mousoleum and Mousoleum Aisha Bibi. Adding another feather to the cap of Kazakhstan is the Lake Balkhash which is very unique in its composition and its water is half sweet and half saline. Also located in this country is the Karagie depression which is the world’s lowest point after the Dead Sea.

Such an array of natural mystical wonders in one country is very difficult to imagine but Kazakhstan is a living proof of such an existence. Though the country may have lagged behind in modern development but t more than completes the void with its abundance of natural wonders and sights. Truly spectacular!
