Langkawi Island is situated in North Western part of Malaysia in the state of Kedah. Alternatively if you want to get there by road then the nearest place would be /kuala Kedha or Kuala Perlis from where you have to take the ferry or boat to reach Langkawi Island.

There is no best time to visit Langkawi as the temperature remains consistent throughout the year. Humidity is the more important factor to decide when one should visit this beautiful island. Although one  can consider traveling during December to April when the sea is relatively calm and usually good for diving, water sports and frockling.

There are many staying options in langkawi from budget resorts to best of luxury and sinful resorts and spas. Although Langkawi has numerous resorts & hotels to stay however it is suggested that one should book the hotels well in advance to avoid last minute surprises. One should keep in mind the national and public holidays in Malaysia as most of the locals would be  heading to Langkawi and other parts of the country. It is always better to check in a property which is near to the beach to enjoy the calm and serenity of the beach. Chalets on water would be an amazing option.

One of the most important feature of langkawi island is tht it has been declared a duty free island by Malaysian government. Being an island the major attraction has to be beaches. The beaches are calm and serene giving panoramic view of the sea. Major beaches are Pentai Cenang, Pentai Tengah, Pantai Kok and Datai Beach. Apart from the beaches there are many other places of interest namely Eagle square (situated in Kuah town) symbolizing the island, Underwater world, Crocodile farm, Rice garden, Snake park, the marine park, Makam Mehsuri etc. Good way to explore the island is to go on a one day island local sightseeing tour. Another adventurous way would be to go on a boat cruise to  Kilim Nature Park where you can witness spectacular views of limestone rock foundations in mangrove forests, meet the local kind i.e. brown eagles, fish farms and bat caves. Boat crusies here gives amazing feeling and once you reach the end you can see the territorial boundary of Thailand also.
