Airport Information:
The London Heathrow airport has a total of 5 terminals with the last 5th terminal being the latest addition to the previous 4 and was open for use since March 2008. The distance between terminals 1,2 and 3 can be negotiated easily on foot using the underground walkways, although, the transfer between various terminals can also be carried out using the Heathrow Express Train whose service is free for the commuters moving about on the airport. These terminals are also easily accessible via various motorways leading to it from various locations. Motorways M4 Junction 4, M25 Junction 15 lead to terminal numbers 1,2 and 3 while terminal 4 can be approached using the motorways M4 Junction 3 and M25 Junction 14.
Information Desks:
Each terminal building of the Heathrow airport has a dedicated help desk to assist travelers with their queries. These information desks are capable of guiding you with information regarding various bus, coach and rail options available for the commuters from the airport as well as help them in getting a hang of the travelling procedures on the London Underground Metro. At the same time they also provide necessary information regarding various hotel accommodation options available for them to choose from and have various maps to offer the travelers in order to help make their travel easy and convenient.
Facilities at the Airport:
The Heathrow Airport has sufficient ATM’s and money exchange counters which are conveniently located at various points throughout the airport. Terminal 2 and 4 also have post offices located there to take care of the postal needs of the visitors. Public telephones, fax machines and wireless internet access too are available at the airport. Also available on all the terminals are various options to indulge in retail therapy by means of various book stores, clothing and accessory stores, music stores, news agents, cosmetic chains, luggage shops etc. Pharmacies dispensing medicines around the clock too can be spotted easily at various terminal points.
For businessmen on the move the Heathrow airport offers the facility of the Travelex business Centre which is very well equipped with various facilities which include meeting chambers, conference rooms, refreshment corner, various business support facilities of the likes of computers with internet access, fax machines, photocopiers, video conferencing equipments etc. Separate dedicated services are also available for the disabled travelers which can be availed from the Heathrow Travel Care division either on the telephone or on their counter at the airport.
Passengers in need of special assistance and wheelchairs are required to get in touch with the designated department at the airport to avail the facilities desired. The airport also operates a special wheelchair friendly bus, the Help Bus, to aid transit between various terminals. Also available are wheelchair accessible phones, text phones, reserved seating and disable friendly toilets throughout the airport.
Located at convenient distances from the airport are several hotels catering especially the travelers arriving at the airport? Notable amongst these hotels are the Hilton Heathrow, Jury’s Inn Heathrow, Marriott London Heathrow, Radisson Edwardian Heathrow, Renaissance Heathrow etc. Reservations to these hotels as well as other such hotels can be done at the British Hotel Reservation Desk located at the Arrival lounge of all the terminals.
