Skiing Locations:

Coronet’s peak and The Remarkable are the two skiing destinations most frequented by skiing enthusiasts. Early June to early October is the time to visit Coronet’s peak while that to visit The Remarkable is late June to late October. Older and more frequented location from the two is Coronet’s peak. With nice and fast lifts along with a well marked beginner’s area at its base, Coronet’s peak also has a separate section on its slopes for advanced skiers known as the back bowls.

The Remarkable’s on the other hand prove to be a safer option than the other peak. With separate sections for the beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers there is something for each level of skier. Snow boarders too can challenge their talent here on the slopes with adequate lifts to experience the rush of adrenaline. Also present here are Homeward Runs which are backcountry slopes providing breath taking views of the town of Queenstown. Also based here is an international level skiing school which coaches ski enthusiasts of all age groups.

Activities beyond the slopes:

The rush of adrenaline is not limited till the skiing slopes. Get a taste of the original bungee jump at Kawarau bridge or try your hand at jet skiing, sky diving etc. Nevis Highwire too should be visited to experience the thrill of headfirst diving. But this does not mean that people in search of calmer options should lose heart, a steamer ride across the river or a ride on the Skyline Gondola cruising through the town would surely make you yearn for more. One can also embark on a sea kayaking tour to view the famous fjord at Milford Sound. Designer boutiques, jewellery stores, art galleries and antique shops add up to make the place a shopper’s paradise.
