Tajikistan will not qualify for being the normal routine tourist destination. With a war slathered past to its name there is the sheer absence of enough infrastructural support which is present in other tourism friendly countries. The profile of this country suits best for the holiday makers who seek pure adventure from their holidays. Once a part of the famous and rich silk route this place has seem much better and prosperous times than what s present here today as a result of long years of civil war. But whatever remains left here along with the scenic mountain views does call for one to visit Tajikistan. After all it is the thrill of discovering the undiscovered which makes the trip completely worth it!
The first inhabitants of Tajikistan are said to have been the pure descendants of the ancient Aryan tribes and came down from the Pamir Mountains. The natural position and location of this country wherein it is surrounded by mountains kept it safe and isolated from most of the invaders. Alexander the great though reached this country and included it in his empire. Tajikistan in later years became a part of USSR and as a result on its subsequent dissolution in later years in 1991 it got the tag of being a sovereign state.
This declaration brought with it utter chaos and political instability inside the country. the matter heated up tremendously and it resulted in a civil war. When the Tajikistan authorities found the matter going out of their control they had to request Russian help as a measure to try and get things under control. It was only in 1997 that a peace pact was signed and peace and harmony found its place in the mountainous country of Tajikistan.
The Pamir mountain ranges surround this country and are by far the most unexplored mountain ranges in the world. This is mostly owing to the fact that the heights house inhospitable weather conditions making it very treacherous for any mountain climbing enthusiast. Located in the Hissar valley is the capital city of Dushanbe which until recent times was nothing more than a big village. located here are several places worth visiting and include a synagogue dating back to the 19th century, the Tajikistan Unified museum, the ethnographic museum and an opera house. Located nearby are ancient remains of Buddhist temples at Kurgan Tyube and this was also the destination where the biggest statue of Buddha in the entire central Asia was recovered.

One of the most spectacular sights situated in Tajikistan include the beautiful Muragazor lakes. It is an incredible system wherein seven lakes come together and the waters of these lakes change their color as the light intensity changes throughout the day. Surely one mesmerizing moment! Also present in this country is another lake, Lake Sareskoye which is situated in the midst of the Pamir Mountains and was formed due to the collapse of a mountain face on a river thereby leading to the blockage of its water. Said to be formed as a result of a meteor falling on earth is the beautiful lake Kara Kul which is situated around 4000 feet above sea level. The ancient routes which were used by traders on the famous silk route are now sites to enjoy breath taking views of the mountain ranges of Pamir and the Fan mountains. Trekking trips can be organized to get an up close view of this unharnessed beauty.

Raw and unbridled beauty is what Tajikistan is all about.  A destination far away from modernization it provides the traveler with chance to view nature the unprepared natural way!
