The Country’s official name was “Siam” but later changed to “Thailand” and now officially called as “Kingdom of Thailand”. The Topical land of Thailand is located in the Gulf of Siam. It is an independent country situated in the heart of South-East Asia.

Thailand is bordered by Laos and Burma in the North, Laos and Cambodia in the East, Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia in the South, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Burma in the West.

It is considered to be the world’s 50th largest country in terms of total area and 20th largest in terms of population. Country is divided into four natural regions which are: – the North, North-East, Central plain and the South. Northern region is a mountainous region consists of ridges, forests, valleys. North-East is arid region having rolling surface and hills. Central region consists of fertile valley and is the most extensive rice producing area in the country. Southern region is hilly with thick and dense forests and Southern part is famous for minerals and iron-ores. It is also a centre for rubber production and cultivation of topical crops.

Thailand is emerging economy and enjoying world’s highest growth rate. Its economy started to recover largely due to strong exports. Major exports are rice, textiles, footwear, fishery products, rubber, jewellery, automobiles, computers and electrical appliances. Rice is the most important crop and therefore, the country is the largest exporter of rice.

Climate
Thailand has a warm climate usually affected by seasonal monsoons. Rainy season starts from June to October and dry season for the rest of the year. Highest temperature occurs from March to May and lowest occurs in December and January.

Religion
People in Thailand generally follow Buddhism i.e. 95% of the population follow Buddhism but other religions like Islam, Hinduism, Christianity are also practiced here.

Languages
Official language of Thailand is Thai but people there are more conversant with English.

Festivals
Various festivals celebrated in Thailand are religious festivals like Vishakhabuja Day, Khao Phansa, and social festivals like Songkran, the Rocket festival in Yasothan.

Thailand’s Popular Cities

Bangkok: – The Capital of Thailand famous for its amazing natural landscapes, unique and rich cultural heritage. Bangkok is also known for its temple and palaces and most specifically charming wooden houses and lush gardens which you will never be able to forget. It is the city that never sleeps as it has lot many restaurants, clubs, discotheques, night clubs, pubs etc.

Phuket: – The largest island in Thailand famous for wildlife and rain forest with white sand beaches. It is also known for some of the world’s premier resorts. Phuket’s biggest attractions are its beaches and limestone cliffs. Various other beaches that can be visited are Patong beach, Karon beach, Kata beach, Nai Han beach.

Krabi: – It’s a beach and the island nearby are popularly known for strange rock formations and unspoiled nature where organized trips are arranged for nature lovers to admire mangrove forests and the wildlife. Accommodation here is cheap and is famous for good and tasty Thai food. People here are friendly. Local beaches to visit here are Hat Noppharat Thara, Ao Nang and Ao Phai Phlong. Among these most popular beach is Hat Noppharat Thara.

Chiang Mai: – It is the second city of Thailand. A sophisticated city that has a National Museum consisting Buddha statues, Pottery and other relics. You also find a Tribal Museum famous for traditional handicrafts. You can also buy handicrafts and everything else at the famous Night Bazaar out there.

Pattaya:- It’s only two hours from Bangkok. It is famous for Resorts, Go karting, Paint balling. Pattaya is one of the best places meant for holidays as it is known for beaches, resorts, delicious sea food, and a gamut of sporting activities.

Therefore, Thailand officially known as “Kingdom of Thailand” is one of the most attractive and beautiful place in the world to visit and also to start business. The country is blessed with economic prosperity and stability and political stability too.
