This town serves as the start mark for the treks which then progress upwards towards the ‘lost’ city of Machu Picchu. The trek on the Inca trail will take a total of 4 days to complete your holiday on the Inca trail. All along the trek route are located remains of ancient settlements made from the granite rocks. The natural scenery which the Inca Trail presents to the trekkers is simply overpowering and this makes it an experience that every trekker must experience at least once in their life time. the Inca trail passes through a couple of passes and valleys before eventually leading into Machu Picchu. The path upto the second pass of Abra de Runkuracay is nothing much but a dirt trail but after this it converts into a stone walkway. It is this roadway which eventually leads in to Machu Picchu. But before entering Machu Picchu the trail passes through a couple of other Inca settlements. Notable amongst them is Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca. All these Incan settlements along with Machu Picchu showcase the rare talent of construction which was gifted to the Incans. The Incan trail presents the traveller with an inpressive array of climate changes, ecosystems, altitudes. It is the difficulty involved to access the city of Machu
Picchu which makes the Inca Trail so special and magical.
